What should I wear during a Maiko dinner experience?There is no strict dress code, so casual attire is acceptable for the Maiko Experience Dinner. Ideally, you should wear comfortable clothes that allow you to sit on the floor, as the event takes place in a traditional tatami room. Since we expect you will be sightseeing in the city during the day, you are welcome to come in comfortable clothing. We encourage everyone to wear comfortable clothing to enhance your enjoyment of this cultural experience.

What is the difference between a Maiko and a Geisha?Maiko is an apprentice Geisha, typically younger, and still in training. Maiko are known for their elaborate hairstyles, colorful kimonos, and youthful appearance, whereas Geishas are fully trained and often wear more subdued attire. In our Maiko Ozashiki Experience, you will interact with a Maiko, enjoying her traditional dance performance and conversation.

How do I reserve the Maiko experience in Kyoto?Reserving a maiko experience is easy and simple. First, please fill in the request form with your desired dates and number of people and submit it. We will then email you back with more detailed information, including pricing and cancellation policy. After confirmation, we will arrange the maiko and venue. Payment will be made online by credit card, and your reservation will be confirmed after the arrangements are completed.

Can I take photos during the Maiko performance?Yes, you are welcome to take photos during the Maiko performance. However, please be respectful of the performance and avoid using flash photography, as it may distract the Maiko. Our interpreter-guide will assist in capturing memorable moments if needed.

How long does the Maiko experience last?The Maiko experience typically lasts about two hours. This includes a one-hour and 45-minute interaction with the Maiko, during which you will enjoy a traditional course meal, all-you-can-drink beverages, and the Maiko’s performance.

Are the Maiko experiences conducted in English?Yes, our Maiko experiences are conducted in English. An interpreter-guide, fluent in both English and Japanese, will accompany your group to ensure you fully understand and appreciate the cultural nuances of the experience. We also provide support via email in English leading up to your reservation.

What is included in the Maiko dinner package?The Maiko dinner package includes a private room, a traditional Japanese course meal, all-you-can-drink beverages (including alcohol), the Maiko’s performance, and the services of an interpreter-guide. All taxes and tips are also included in the package price, so there are no additional charges.

Maiko arrangements can take one to two weeks, and during high tourism seasons, it may take longer. We recommend booking as early as possible and communicating any specific requests when making your reservation.

Photo opportunities are provided as part of the experience, ensuring you have lasting memories of your time with the Maiko.
